All's fair in love, war and the NY Senate race
By Nitzan HorowitzHillary Clinton's New York campaign for a Senate seat took a new twist this weekend as the first lady claimed Jewish roots, citing her "warm" relationship with her grandmother's second husband, Max Rosenberg.
Rosenberg, who died in 1984, was a Russia-born Jew who married Mrs. Clinton's maternal grandmother, Della, in 1933. According to press reports in the weekend New York tabloids, while Rosenberg did not legally adopt Della's children, including Hillary's mom, Dorothy, Hillary has as of late been citing especially "warm, childhood memories" of her step-grandfather.
Clinton's campaign headquarters say they don't expect the revelations about Max Rosenberg to have any real electoral impact, but admit that it can't hurt in New York, where the Jewish vote is critical in any election.
